BODY RHYTHM DANCE THEATRE - DEBUT RECITAL - Saturday, October 18, 2008 - 8:00 pm

Founded in 2007 by Shirley Ann Bryant, the name Body Rhythm Dance Theatre (BRDT) is derived from the expression that the physical matter (body) posses a spirit rhythm that performs daily on the stage of life. Once these physical beings cease to exist,the rhythm of the spirit will be remembered and felt throughout this life’scourse.
Body Rhythm Dance Theatre is comprised of dancers of various ages, ethnicity and backgrounds. The company mission is to encourage and promote the growth of dance for children and adults in the Detroit metropolitan communities.
Artistic goal is to present repertoire’s that are both visually stimulating and spiritually uplifting. Bringing together a unique group of dancers, it is the companies desire to communicate to their audience the beauty that can be found in our differences and the artistry of understanding the vision by moving as one.
The company provides community services by providing free lesson to children whose family cannot afford it, schools and church’s. There is also a BRDT II that performs locally and members are chosen from the children community
class.
Body Rhythm Dance Theatre has been preparing for their Debut concert for three years, which is taking place this fall Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Millennium Center in Southfield. The ensemble is a modern dance company, consisting of thirteen dancers. These dancers perform a repertoire of modern, jazz, hip hop in theme and ethnic. This diversity enables the audiences to appreciate and enjoy the creativeness of each dance.
